Readymade Edition 3 in Ottawa. All photos by author unless noted. Text by an anonymous dancer.

LAST SATURDAY NIGHT, people spilled in and out of 495 Somerset St W. DJs, friends of DJs, friends of friends, new ones, old ones, artists, collectors, mystery dancers, et al. Interesting lot, you see. Nate stylishly came in and out. Geunf and los3r were about (I hear they’re performing on June 30th). Osita, too, talks of his next Amashowza set followed him. I even saw a man, Architecture t-shirt on, wearing sunglasses and indoors mind you. Interesting lot, as I said. About half-past one, I left and overheard from across the street: “Apparently there’s an art gallery, but it’s not really an art gallery, and they host DJ sets in Ottawa.” They went on. “Apparently Ski Sheik is doing a DJ set at their next edition July 15th.” I thought to myself: “ Maybe the city is awake, after all. For a brief moment I had thought it were asleep.” I went home thinking of DJ sets as performance art. I may call Kaitlin Phillips to set up a New York edition. Perhaps Dean Kissick will will do a b2b set with one of the city’s most anticipated DJs, Sweet Morgane; who, with style, began Galerie Sedar’s third edition of Readymade the night-of. Rumour has it her aesthetic advances behind the DJ decks are an experience to be had. “Sweet Morgane’s set was something special. I’ve never heard anything quite like it.” they said, emerging out from the fog-filled room. Lost, in the fog, in the mix — it seems that DJ sets are one of the final places to find gasps of air in the smog-filled city. Readymade ideas and readymade sets. I know where I’ll be Saturday July 15th. In the meantime, I’m calling Kaitlin.
